While running one of the Country’s largest Medical Staffing firms John was a client of CIC Benefit Consulting Group, now 44North. In working with 44North and sharing the same philosophy about people and business as the Founder of 44North, John decided to switch places from consumer to provider. John joined 44North in 2006. With more than 15 years in the medical service industry, John's passion for value, ROI, and employee's wellbeing drives him daily to make a difference with his partners. He uses the most innovative approaches to help his clients deliver relevant solutions to their work force.
John's passion and excitement for the ACA is in full swing. He thinks this will give 44North and his team the opportunity to revolutionize healthcare, how it's delivered, and how it's used. His Team is working hard to get thru the challenges and highlight the opportunities for his clients with the ACA.
In John's free time he likes to work. Most kidding aside...John his wife Cookie and black lab Rammy enjoy the outdoors, cooking, and being with family and friends.
Meet John's Team:
Deena heads up John O’Connor’s team and is located in our Rockford, MI office. She works closely with our employer groups providing innovative solutions to meet each client’s benefit goals. She also assists with Open Enrollment and Member education. She has 19 years of experience in the healthcare industry and is passionate about Customer Service. In addition to being licensed in Health and Life Insurance, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Calvin College.
Deena lives in Rockford, with her husband and three children: The eldest attends University of Michigan, the middle attends Rockford Public High School and the youngest is now 3. (Yes, you did read that correctly). Deena enjoys spending time with her family and friends along with reading, ice skating, movies and amusement parks. If she was to name one thing she is really good at, it would be organizing events. Deena is a Jane Austen fan and one of her favorite movies of all times is Pride & Prejudice (2005 version). If she could only eat one food for the rest of her life, it would be pizza.
Alisha is the Customer Service Representative for John O’Connor’s team. She has 10 years of experience with a background in third party claim administration. She truly enjoys assisting our clients with any insurance issues they are having.
Alisha lives in Greenville, Michigan with her husband, their daughter, and their Golden Retriever Lola. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends whether it be just visiting with one another or going on some crazy adventure. There isn’t anything Alisha loves more than to watch her daughter learn and grow.
Char is an Account Coordinator on John O’Connor’s team and works directly with the Human Resources/Benefits Department Managers. She works to resolve day to day issues and questions regarding claims, benefit coverage, and compliance laws. During her five years here at 44North she has also worked in our TPA Department as a Patient Advocate and a Claims Analyst. Char also brings with her 7 years of insurance billing at a facility including commercial insurance, auto and workers’ compensation claims. Char is a licensed agent for Life, Health and Accident as well.
Char lives in Cadillac area and has been married for 20 years and has 3 teenage children. In between kids sporting events (basketball, football, cross country and track), they enjoy camping, trail riding, and just being with friends/family. Her goal is to one day travel to Italy and Ireland.
Dawn supports the TPA Department as a Senior Patient Advocate, licensed by the State of Michigan in Life, Health and Accident Insurance. She brings with her a Medical Office Assistant Certificate and 12 years’ experience in customer service. She appreciates the passion and integrity of 44North and values the way the teams work together caring for members and clients in a way that sets a new standard in the industry. She is devoted to advocating for her clients, whether it’s helping them understand their benefits, listening to their issues, finding answers, saving them unnecessary expenditures or discovering creative ways to meet their needs.
Dawn lives in the Lake City area caring for her family helping her daughters prepare for a rewarding future. Dawn and her husband are motorcycle enthusiasts taking trips across northern Michigan as often as they have time to do so. Her family loves Michigan for its wealth of outdoor activities like fishing in the spring, camping in the summer, hunting in the fall, and skiing in the winter.
Ashley works as a Patient Advocate ensuring that insurance issues and questions are taking care of in a timely fashion. She hopes to earn the trust of her members by being accessible, honest, and relatable. What she finds the most interesting about patient advocacy is the legality behind each issue and using this knowledge to assist members work through insurance questions and concerns. Ashley has a bachelor’s degree from Siena Heights University, majoring in both History and Pre-Law studies and graduating in only three years as Summa Cum Laude. Ashley really hopes to bring her extreme care for detail and customer service experience to 44North in the upcoming years.
Ashley is a transplant from southeast Michigan who moved to the Cadillac area after college. She is still adapting to the area and has learned that dirt roads really do exist and just because it is summer, does not mean it is the right season for a seasonal road. Ashley met her husband, Nick, at Siena Heights University where she played softball and he played baseball. Ashley was named three-time All-American Scholar-Athlete while attending SHU and is an avid Detroit sports fan. If Ashley is not at work, you will most likely find her on a softball field, fishing, riding ATVs, or at home watching sports.
Senior Claims Analyst
Jacklyn is part of the TPA Call Center as a Senior Claims Analyst. She enjoys helping her clients be at ease, knowing that they are well taken care of when they call her. Jacklyn finds pleasure connecting her clients with understanding their medical benefits. It makes her happy when she knows they don’t have to be stressed about how to fix an issue; usually one call to Jacklyn and she can get things straightened out. The positive team atmosphere really makes working at 44North feel like a family- a home away from home.
Cadillac is where Jacklyn and her family call home. In the winter, she and her family enjoy the use of our local sledding park and enjoy spending time together outside. In the summer they enjoy our lovely local area lakes either swimming or fishing along the beautiful lake shores. When she has a spare moment you might find Jacklyn wrapped up in a good book.
Nikki is a part of the TPA call center as a Claims Analyst. She strives to help her clients better understand their medical benefits, while processing their claims timely and efficiently. It makes her happy in knowing that she can help her clients through uneasy times. With a friendly voice, she hopes that she can put her clients at ease in knowing that she is on their side. It brings much joy to Nikki to be able to work through a problem for a client and have it fixed so they can focus on their health. Nikki graduated from Baker College in 2012 and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She is a hard worker and loves to laugh. Being surrounded by the people who mean the most to her makes her happiest. The friendly-family like atmosphere at 44North makes Nikki feel like she is at home and she wants to portray that same comfort to her clients with every call.
Nikki is a northern Michigan native, residing in the little town of Mesick. She is happily married to her high school sweetheart, and has a daughter and two dogs, jack and princess. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and loves to get everyone together at her house in the summer time. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, traveling, gardening, going to sporting events, swimming, and boating. She loves the country life and just being outdoors. If she had an all-expenses paid trip she would take her husband and daughter to Hawaii so they could enjoy the slow pace of the island life. Nikki is very active and believes that life should be lived to its fullest potential.
As a Claims Analyst, Rhonda works in our TPA department analyzing claims to ensure that they are processing correctly. In the ever-changing insurance industry, she has found her prior experience managing a general practitioner’s office to be very beneficial. Rhonda is confident that she can help members with any claim issues that they bring to her. She enjoys the challenges that the insurance industry brings and loves being able to help our members get their issues resolved.
Rhonda has only been in the Cadillac area for a year, but has already discovered a love for the Northern Michigan area and she really enjoys being up here. She likes kayaking and has recently learned to play horse shoes. She is a mother of two and was a floral designer for 15 years. She still loves to be creative and design flowers, and she also enjoys re-finishing furniture.
