FROM THE MEANING OF LIFE (FEB C OF C) TO SINGING IN THE RAIN.
Believe it or not, Coffee with Cote’ is old school! No ghostwriter, nor junior staffer, teeing up the next C of C – no sir, no way! All that’s needed in serving up that next cup is just a comfortable spot to start typing away on my trusty DELL, an internet connection and, of course, plenty of Coffee!
Now, this is not to say that all of the thought creation is 100% original or first on the block. Unfortunately, regardless of how good an idea may be or inspired you are for the next big deal, the reality is someone probably already climbed that mountain. With the world being flat, unless you are Amazon, Apple or Microsoft, the reality is you probably did not create it and the best thing that can happen is making something better (which certainly goes a long way towards positive growth).
So, when it comes to each month’s Coffee with Cote’ serving (refreshed quarterly), inspiration can come from a million places. This month, I didn’t have to go further than taking just one of the 50 tips from the last C of C and landed on the importance of getting a massage. As I made my way for my 60 minutes of R&R, I was met with a great quote: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s learning how to dance in the rain”.
As cool as this quote is, it’s often hard not to get caught up in looking at the weather forecast and starting to feel a little anxious to see if the weather in need is not in alignment for what the plan is for that day. In my world, golf comes to mind and the fact that as much as we keep hearing about global warming, that darn snow seems to keep hanging around longer each year.
With all the bad weather we have seen this winter, I didn’t think twice when my oldest son asked if I would take him and his college buddies to Florida for their spring break a few weeks ago. Caught up in a conversation with them one night, I was amazed at all of the immediate content we have for the need-it-now culture we live in. Let’s face it, with mobile this and smart that, pretty much anything you want to view, be educated on or entertained with, is just a few clicks away and when it comes to settling in for a movie, this is no further than reaching for your IPAD, IPHONE or turning on your Smart TV.
Reflecting on this, the question that comes to mind is “Could we be living in the golden age of entertainment?”
If you aren’t following me on the abundance of awesome content that exists that you can easily grab for your entertainment pleasure, read no further. But for a movie buff like myself, what a great time to be alive and watch what you want, when you want and where you want.
This is not to say there isn’t a ton of other unlimited non-movie content, but for today, I am picking the movie lane and with this, let me leave you with a six pack of great romantic comedy movies.
- Say Anything
- When Harry Met Sally
- Dirty Dancing
- City of Angels
- Jerry Maguire
- There’s Something About Mary
If you are feeling that an 80’s reunion just happened, let this be a sneak peek to a future C of C where a healthy discussion of music’s greatest music era just might happen (hint – it’s not all purple).
So next time you are caught in the middle of a rain out, need to fill some time or in need of a little pick-up, remember that the golden era of entertainment is with you all the time.
